Mountain Laurel is a local bluegrass band that got it’s start eight years ago when Adam, who plays the Banjo, and Eddie, who plays Guitar, met at a small venue …in Alexandria Indiana and realized that they both had a love for the Andy Griffith Show, and especially the band on the show called the Darlings, who were a band in real life called the Dillard’s. They also shared a passion for ministry and especially nursing homes. An instant friendship was formed and they soon began to play at places like local nursing homes, churches, and the Muncie Mission. They were soon joined by Eddie’s cousin Dan Slaven, who plays the Mandolin. The band was in need of a Bass player, so Eddie’s son Michael, who was a drummer, agreed to learn to play the Bass. Three years ago, after playing in a bluegrass festival in Anderson, they met Jim Miller, their Fiddle player. Following the unexpected passing of our dear friend and mandolin player, Dan Slaven, in September of 2015, we were fortunate to have Bob Davis fill in for us for the remainder of the year, and officially join us on Mandolin in January of 2016. We enjoy playing songs that the audience can join in and sing or tap their foot to. We are an energetic band that loves to engage and have fun with the audience and have you feeling good while at our show. We hope to see you at a festival, nursing home, or church real soon!
